One Fest Schedule…

Join us at Old Diorama Arts Centre on Sat 28th Jan at 3pm for the final exhibition of One Fest 2023.

See all the amazing work that has been created: from mask work to portraits to wire sculpting to mudlark mosaics; plus a last chance to attend a workshop; and live presentations from artists with lived experience of homelessness.

All are welcome.

On 10th October 2022, we invited members of the local community, users of ODAC, friends, passers-by, and charities dealing with homelessness to a drop-in session in the ODAC Foyer, where we canvassed opinion on how we could best serve the One Fest demographic this time round.  We found that - post-pandemic - the key requirement of artists of No Fixed Abode/precariously sheltered/experiencing homelessness is appropriate and welcoming spaces in which to create work, in a supportive community environment.

On this basis, we decided to adjust our format. Our next One Fest takes place between 16th and 27th January 2023, and features workshops spanning a broad range of disciplines.

Below is (some of!) what will be happening at ODAC over the next few weeks. If you’re interested in attending or volunteering at any sessions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with onefestivalha@gmail.com or sign up here. (It’s useful for us to get an idea how many people are coming, but if you don’t get the chance to sign up advance, please feel free to show up on the day).

Additional to the changing schedule below, there will be rooms at ODAC allocated exclusively for the following:
- Welcome Hub - hellos, help-desk, hot drinks, snacks & food served.
- Safe Store - lockable bag & coat storage.
- Chill Out Space - games, conversation, comfy sofa!
-
Music Room - spoken word, poetry, jamming, creativity.
-
Personal Space - prayer space, private time.

The One Fest team are not strictly allocating studios anymore, as there is just too much good stuff happening! We’re playing it by ear, so just turn up and we’ll tell you where to go.

Throughout the first week, one of our studios will be exclusively used for ‘Rebuild’. Rebuild is a unique and exciting opportunity for women who are or who have been homeless to take part in a series of creative crafting workshops, exploring the meaning of home, homelessness, motherhood, and the notion of re-building lives. The work produced will go on to form part of the final exhibition of work exhibited at Camden People’s Theatre following One Fest, and become the new set design for a new play.

From Saturday 28th January, there will be a final exhibition of the One Fest work starting at 3pm.
